The company I work for changed insurance so I notified insulet immediately. My prior insurance covered my pods 100%.

After changing insurance I started receiving pumps every month instead of every 3 month like before changing insurance companies. I never received a bill from insulet with my prior insurance and received a bill 3 months after changing insurance companies. The bill i received was for over $3000. I immediately called insulet to inform them of the error and to get things fixed.

Insulet informed me that my insurance was not covering my pods anymore. I ask why they had not informed me because I had not received any notification. After further phone calls between myself, my new insurance and insulet, we came to the conclusion that insulet had continued to bill my prior insurance company and not my new insurance company. Insulet had notice of my change of insurance companies and had not billed the new.

I was told by insulet that I should have called them within 60 days of the change. Since I called them 90 days after I had already made the insurance change that Insulet was aware of and had noted, they would not cover the charges. After insulet had billed my new insurance company I was notified that my new insurance carrier did not cover the pods until I had paid up to $2,500 of my deductible. I notified Insulet of this and instead Insulet said they would take care of the first shipment of pods because of their mistake and not the last 2.

I had spoken with countless people from Insulet at this point and had informed them that i was a single parent to a 2 year old(now 4) with no help from his mother(still no help) and they told me they could sympathize. With all this said, Insulet reported me to collections for dillinquency of paying. Stephens collection agency does not care about the stated problem I have had nor will they talk to Insulet to make changes with my dilenquent account.

Insulet will not longer speak with me or send me anymore pods because of my payment status with insulet. I am now running out pods quickly and because I have only used the pods when absolutely needed and because of the outragious amount of pods they sent me in 3 months, I have been able to keep a few around switching between them and insulin pens.

Monetary Loss: $2300.
