I used an Omnipod for three years. The pod failures, the site problems causing sugar spikes, and the horrible customer service experience on ordering supplies finally made me give up on them.

The sugar spikes were particularly distressing. Sometimes the insulin apparently would leak out or just not deliver - perhaps due to blockage? But you go for hours with no insulin delivery (even worse if at a mealtime) only to see a 500 MG/DL sugar show up. Then you have to remove the pod, replace it and wait hours for your sugar to get back to normal.

What a headache! I have recently started using the new Tresiba insulin for basal coverage and have been delighted! It gives more level control than the pump.

I use MDIs for bolus doses. Much better control with this approach and no headaches with failed pods and poor customer service!

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $1000.

Preferred solution: I'm giving up on Omnipod!.

Omnipod Pros: Idea of the omnipod, Idea of the omnipod if properly executed.

Omnipod Cons: Poor quality of the poods and the poor customer service.

Location: Lubbock, Texas
